Mayland Group won the “Targeted Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Award”
On the evening of March 20th, the“Guangdong Real Estate Enterprise Targeted Poverty Alleviation DemonstrationAward in 2018” has been honored to Mayland Group from Guangdong Real EstateAssociation at the “Feast to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary ofChina’s Reform and Opening-up”.
Innovative targeted poverty alleviation model: Mayland Agriculture
Targeted poverty alleviation is the essence and highlight of poverty alleviation work of the Party and the country in the new era. It is also an important guarantee for comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society and realizing the great “Chinese dream” of the Chinese nation. In 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping first proposed the important instructions “seeking truth from facts, adapting measures to local conditions, classifying guidance and targeted alleviate poverty”. In 2014, Mayland Group actively responded to the central government’s call for poverty alleviation. It took the initiative to participate in the poverty alleviation work in the camellia oleifera industry in Qingyuan, and established Guzhen Camellia Oil Development Limited (“Guzhen Camellia Oil” or “the company”).
1. Develop modern three-dimensional agriculture based on local conditions and build camellia oleifera into an important industry to help local people become rich
Mayland Group developed a special fund to transform low-yield camellia oleifera and create new high-yield and good-quality camellia oleifera, and cooperated with experts from South China Agricultural University and Guangdong Academy of Forestry to develop improved camellia oleifera seeds. By strengthening technological support and introducing advanced international technologies, the Group aims to increase the added value of camellia oleifera industry, by establishing a high-quality edible camellia oil industry chain from camellia oil product development, cultivation, research and development to sales. Currently, Guzhen Camellia Oil has established its camellia oleifera planting base layout in Guangzhou, Qingyuan, Shaoguan, Zhaoqing and Maoming, driving the development of related industries in surrounding villages and towns. The company provides employment to rural people, has increased farmers’ income, and is helping the poor to come out of poverty. It is contributing to sustainable economic development and in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects in Guangzhou, Qingyuan and even across the Guangdong Province.
2. Adhere to the principle of addressing both symptoms and root causes, and actively explore a targeted, long-term and sustainable poverty alleviation path integrating “poverty alleviation by developing industries, technology and jobs”.
While increasing farmers’ income, the group should improve the construction of infrastructure such as roads, and water and electricity supply, to improve people’s living environment. In addition to regularly carrying out camellia oleifera production skills training, arranging visits and exchanges to improve the application of camellia oleifera technologies, the company organizes technical personnel to provide technical training and services to production line workers, publishes relevant books to popularize camellia oleifera culture education, and is helping improve production skills and upgrading the production and living concepts as well as ideological and cultural quality of the villagers. It is enhancing the self-development ability of poor households, and effectively improving the quality of life of the people.
3. Protect the ecological environment, improve the benefits to industry, and develop new advantages in coordinated development of ecology and economy
In future, we plan to develop a rural tourism demonstration project that takes the camellia oleifera industry as the pillar. By transforming industrial resources into tourism resources, inheriting rural civilization through innovation and development, exploring rural memories, and increasing the participation of local farmers, we will create internal forces and long-term mechanisms to drive the development of rural economy, and promote the rural revitalization strategy. Winning the “Guangdong Real Estate Enterprise Targeted Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Award” is not only an affirmation of the achievements made by Mayland Group in “targeted poverty alleviation”, but is also a vital encouragement. The group will further implement the concept of “l(fā)ucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”, and leveraging existing nature’s bounties, industrial base and historical culture, actively adjust and upgrade the agricultural industrial structure and deepen the integration of agriculture, education and culture.
